Feel Like a Goddess: How a Reading-PA-Maternity-Photographer is Upping the Ante

Writer: Ashlie BradleyAshlie Bradley

There is so much excitement when you first see that positive pregnancy test that you could burst with joy. You and your spouse are thrilled to be starting this journey into parenthood together. You’ve been dreaming about this time in your life for a while—imagining how it will feel the first time you sense those baby kicks. You can’t wait for that famous “pregnancy glow” to make its appearance.

But what if it feels like that glow will never come?

Instead, you’re plagued with acne from your ever-changing hormones, swollen feet, and the sensation of being as big as a house (even though you’re definitely not). It can be hard to feel beautiful during pregnancy, especially when it feels like your body is being hijacked.

I’m here to tell you that these feelings are completely normal—in fact, I experienced them myself during pregnancy. That’s exactly why I work so hard to ensure you feel like a goddess during your maternity photoshoot. As your Reading-PA-maternity-photographer, here’s how I deliver an experience that truly goes above and beyond.

You Are Seen

When we first meet, I love getting to know your specific pregnancy journey, how you're feeling, and any obstacles you’ve overcome. At this stage in your life, people often focus solely on the baby, but I believe it’s just as important for you to feel seen and heard. I also take the time to address any concerns you may have about being photographed—I want you to feel excited and confident knowing your experience will be enjoyable and uplifting.

It’s All About Timing

Timing plays a crucial role in planning your photoshoot. I want you to look back at your photos and remember how amazing and beautiful you felt that day! That’s why I recommend scheduling your session between 28 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. This timing allows you to showcase that adorable baby bump while avoiding the more uncomfortable symptoms that often occur later in pregnancy. You’ll be able to pose more comfortably, feel less tired, and experience minimal swelling—helping your face retain its pre-pregnancy appearance.

Pampering is Key

I strongly encourage clients to pamper themselves before the photoshoot, and I emphasize this in my client guide. Take a moment to relax with a pedicure, get your hair done, or simply carve out some time for self-care.

On the day of your photoshoot, you can fully unwind as your hair and makeup are professionally done. This isn’t just about looking great—it’s about feeling radiant and confident, ready to shine during your session.

It’s All About the Hype

During your photoshoot, I become your personal hype girl. I ensure you are well taken care of, providing fresh water and snacks to keep you hydrated and energized. I’ll fix your hair, guide you through flattering poses from head to toe, and help with facial expressions. Expect plenty of enthusiastic encouragement like “YAS GIRL!” and “Beautiful!” to remind you just how phenomenal you look.

Asking the Right Questions

You don’t have to wait anxiously to see your photos—you get to view them the very same day! As you select your portraits, I revisit any initial concerns and discuss how far you’d like me to take the editing. Whether you prefer a natural look or some minor adjustments, I ensure that the final images maintain a balance between enhancement and authenticity.
