There’s a lot that goes into planning your maternity photoshoot in Reading, Pennsylvania. From hair and makeup to outfit choices, location selection, and more—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.
But one thing you might also be wondering about is what types of poses you should do with your partner. Do you want dramatic and showstopping poses? Something happy and romantic? Or perhaps more intimate moments?
No matter what vibe you're going for, I’ve got you covered! Here are my FIVE go-to poses that I use in almost every maternity session with couples.

1. The Boss Pose

This pose features Dad sitting confidently in a chair while Mom stands behind him. It creates a bold, powerful statement. After all, they say behind every great man is an even greater woman! Dads love this pose, and I can see why—it exudes strength and partnership.

2. The Intimate Embrace

For this pose, Dad stands behind Mom, gently cradling the bottom of her baby bump with one hand while she runs her hand up his bicep. This pose is not only beautiful but also deeply connected. I love capturing different variations—looking at the camera, kissing, or gazing down at the belly. No matter the focus, this pose always becomes a favorite.

3. The Side Baby Bump Hug

Simple, sweet, and timeless! I instruct my couples to side-hug while placing their free hands under the baby bump. There are so many ways to personalize this—Dad can have one hand under the belly while Mom places hers on top, or they can form a heart shape over the bump together.

4. Sitting on the Floor

I am OBSESSED with this pose because it’s visually striking and unique. Dad sits on the floor with one leg bent up and the other tucked underneath, resting a hand on the ground for support. Mom can either lay across his lap or sit hip-to-hip, leaning in for a cozy, intimate look.

5. Kneeling & Kissing the Belly

For this tender pose, Mom stands to the side while Dad kneels as if he’s proposing. He then gently holds the side of her belly and kisses it—with his eyes closed! No awkward, open-eyed "fish kisses" here. Another variation involves Dad simply hugging the baby bump for a heartfelt moment.

And there you have it—my FIVE go-to couples' poses for your Reading, PA maternity photoshoot! Whether you're looking for bold, intimate, or sweet poses, there's something here for everyone.
